Infra-Stuck-Ture

This weekend the Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge opened to let a ship pass and then stuck itself in that position. Sounds like the 63 year old bridge just wants to retire already, but a replacement might cost as much as $900 million. D.C. is hoping that a new bridge would not have to swing; when FDR was first built ships traveled to the Navy Yard but that ship has sailed, so to speak, in our nautical history. [DCist]
