Joe Robert's McLean House Sells After Huge Price Chop

New, 1 comment

Naturally Joe Robert—a major player in the DC real estate scene who died of brain cancer in 2011—lived in one of the swankiest McLean addresses possible. In the Ballantrae subdivision (where former Secretary of State Colin Powell and former Secretary of Defense Caspar Weinberger had homes) this is one of the few houses to still sit on a large lot (6.27 acres). There's enough room for a regulation-sized soccer field in addition to the pool and tennis court with stacked stone perimeter that are already built. As high-priced mansions go it didn't take too long for this one to find a buyer, but it did have to take almost two million of its price. The 12 bed, 11.5 bath property entered the market for $11,500,000 in June of 2012 and sold this month for $9,300,000.
