Archaeology

The historic house/museum called Tudor Place has a miniature archaeological dig going on that unearthed some remnants of Colonoware— a kind of ceramic made by African-Americans starting in the 17th century. The other clues uncovered at the site suggest the things found date to the early 19th century but the Colonoware is considered rare to this side of the Potomac so the diggers are ecstatic to find examples of it right off of 31st Street.
