This week, we travel up the Green and Yellow Lines to the land of Target, aka Columbia Heights, to revisit the nabe's old Least Expensives and find out what new properties are on the market. Nearly every property sold on this list, but none went way above ask. As a matter of fact, one closed for more than $100,000 below its ask. That's the good news. The bad news is this year's list of Least Expensives is not nearly as affordable. We'll be back later today with all the deets about the least expensive properties for 2013.

The Lowdown: This new listing is a 2 bedroom, 2 bath unit with plenty of chichi features, including a chef's kitchen with a granite island, an over-sized shower with a built in seat, and stainless steel appliances. The listing's pictures don't do it justice, so you may want to check this one out in person. Just be aware this might be a potential short sale. Update: This puppy was sold for $220,000, which is more than $100,000 less than the ask.
9. 1020 Monroe Street NW

The Lowdown: This one is also a recent listing, and it's in a building that's getting a lot of neighborhood attention (including some here on Curbed). Located at 11th and Monroe above a new restaurant from the owners of popular Tryst, this 1 bedroom, 1 bath condo has dark hardwood floors, in-unit washer and dryer, stainless steel appliances, and a traditional layout. However, the view from the unit is uninspiring, and there is a $263 condo fee. Update: No deets on what happened to this listing.
8. 3060 16th Street NW
Asking Price: $280,000

Price Per Square Foot: $411
The Lowdown: This 1 bedroom, 1 bath unit may be considered Mt. Pleasant for neighborhood purists, but it still has plenty of Columbia Heights vibe. Lowered from the initial asking price of $295,000, this listing has stainless steel appliances and tiled back splash in the kitchen with a traditional floor plan. The building has its own pool, and HOA fees are $315 monthly. Update: The 1 bedroom condo found a buyer for $293,000.
7. 2623 Sherman Avenue NW

The Lowdown: The only row house on the list and one of the most affordable on a price per square foot basis, this Sherman Avenue unit is 3 stories with a rear-entrance basement . The 3 bedrooms and 1 bath allow plenty of space for buyers looking to start a family or just need a place to stretch out. There is road and sidewalk construction on Sherman Avenue, so that will be something to consider before making the leap to secure this listing. Update: Right on the money. The row house came and went for what it wanted: $280,000.
6. 1458 Columbia Road NW #105
Asking Price: $278,820

Price Per Square Feet: $243
The Lowdown: One of three listings for this Columbia Road building, this 2 bedroom, 2.5 bath unit ties with #5 for being the cheapest price per square foot. However, the catches are there are Affordable Median Income (AMI) restrictions and a monthly $467 HOA for this neighborhood steal. Update: And another one sold, and only a bit cheaper than the asking price of $278,820.
5. 1458 Columbia Road NW #110
Asking Price: $263,250

The Lowdown: This 2 bedroom, 2 bath listing is similar to #6 in a lot of ways considering they share the same address. The unit has an open kitchen, carpeting, and a low, low price per square foot. The monthly HOA is $452. Update: Totally sold for $260,000.

The Lowdown: If you've got patience and want something with historical charm, this might be the place for you. Located in a beautiful building from 1895, this 1 bedroom, 1 bath condo has in-unit laundry facilities and a huge walk-in closet. However, there is a short sale application in progress, so make sure you're prepped ahead of time. Update: After being on the market for more than 200 days, this short sale is finally pending. Finally.
3. 718 Park Road NW

The Lowdown: While this may be on the more expensive side when looking at price per square foot metrics, this 1 bedroom, 1 bath unit is in a gorgeous Beaux Arts building and includes in-unit laundry and, not one, but two parking spaces. That's right: 2 parking spaces come inclusive with the price of this condo. Update: This property last sold for $207,500 back in late May.
2. 2639 15th Street NW

Price Per Square Foot: $625
The Lowdown: Easily the smallest and most expensive per square foot, this 1 bathroom studio is in a federal style building with parking inclusive in the asking price. The efficiency has east views, bamboo floors, cherry cabinets, stainless steel appliances, marble bath, and in-unit laundry. What this place lacks in size makes up in style. Update: This studio costs a lot per square foot and sold for $218,500 back in late March.

The Lowdown: Coming in under the $200K mark, this 1 bedroom, 1 bath condo is located in the same building as #5 and #6. This pet-friendly listing is perfect for someone looking for the basics, as long as you include the monthly $227 HOA fees into your cost calculations. Update: The sale closed for $185,000 back in late December.
