Over the weekend the New York Times ran a feature on historic post offices around the country that were on the market to help the beleaguered US Postal Service. One of the ones on the list is the Georgetown branch at 1215 31st St NW that has been a likely project for developers at Eastbanc as long ago as last summer. They are under contract to buy the building from USPS but will add more retail space to the building once they clear all the hurdles. CORE architects are the ones working with them to design the new retail portion but no major decisions have been made regarding tenants as yet. [NYT; previously; CORE; Georgetowner]
