Van Ness is coming alive with the sounds of construction crews. Developer BF Saul will liven up the Van Ness streets and redevelop the nabe's current Van Ness Square complex. Currently housing several chain stores, the planned development Park Van Ness will soon be home to more than 270 apartments ranging from studios to three bedroom abodes. Rising a solid seven stories, the Park Van Ness will have a tasteful Art Deco design and abut the city's woodsy wilderness in Soapstone Valley Park, which is a branch of Rock Creek. Despite this planned building being on busy Connecticut Avenue, expect to see resident NIMBYs complain about a development in a nabe that really needs some life.
