Right now 1550 Pennsylvania Ave SE is a used car lot. A few years from now it will be a 3-5 story building with 80-84 units. The developers need to apply for a few variances—one to have only 31 parking spaces instead of the required 42 (due mostly to space constraints) and the other to not have to build a loading dock big enough for 55-foot trucks (more space constraints!). There's a public meeting to discuss the project on Wednesday Feb. 27, 6:30 pm at New York Pizza where people can make their voices heard. A few commenters have already weighed in saying that Kentucky Avenue should become a two-way street to accommodate the traffic flow.
