An MGM Casino Will Open in National Harbor in Mid-2016

New, 4 comments

Three different companies went all in, showed their hands (or rather, their casino development plans) and MGM International had the winner. They will be the ones to build a casino at National Harbor that will likely open in 2016. Several consultant reports had pointed to MGM as the favorite, but the result of the vote wasn't unanimous. At least two members of the Maryland Video Lottery Facility Location Commission voted for competitor Greenwood. The lack of votes for the team from Penn National means no horse racing will come to this Prince George's County resort but a couple thousand slot machines and 140 game tables, a hotel, and a theater are on their way. This should be a relief for those who really hate making the drive to either West Virginia or Atlantic City to scratch that gambling itch.
