Is a pedestrian arcade a sidewalk enclave where games of Galaga, Skeeball and Mortal Kombat await! Sadly, it is not (but can someone please make that happen?) In this case, a pedestrian arcade is an overhang that juts out from a building, covers a walkway and provides shelter for people who might want to walk in the rain or snow without getting soaked. So fear not, folks, the arcade that's being filled in on 1401 New York Avenue NW isn't the closure of some secret outdoor Dave & Busters-esque space. It's just bringing the retail on the first floor closer to the street so that passers-by can actually see what stores are hidden under the overhang.
