It's official: the Marriott Marquis has announced an opening date of May 1st. D.C.'s biggest hotel is also taking reservations for visits starting July 1st, so potential fireworks watchers will have a new place to stay. From the looks of the renderings, the standard guest rooms look like typical Marriott fare (albeit with really nice views). The suites, even the fancier rose-garden inspired Presidential suites, also look like they have the sort of tasteful decor one would expect of a hotel attached to a Convention Center. However, the glass atrium is a definite eye-popper, featuring a 56 foot tall sculpture at its center. Check out the rest of the gallery above for renderings of the dining options and grand ballroom.
