This home on 5th Street NW doesn't appear to be as nutso as the tastelessly high V Street pop-up (yet), but there two things of note with on this 5th Street renovation. The first is that regardless of whether or not the home pops up one extra story or three, it will stick out like a sore thumb in comparison to the rest of the 5300 block of 5th Street (shown in the above gallery). But perhaps weirder than that is the apparent siding on top of the brick row house. It only goes halfway down the facade and acts more like a thin paper cover. Yes, the construction process breeds photos of projects in their weird half-finished state, but this one is particularly bizarre. Stay tuned to this space as we find out more about the project and give us a shout at the tipline if you know something that we don't.
