Whole Foods fans in Southeast DC: your days of hauling over to Dupont, Foggy Bottom or Tenleytown are coming to an end. Navy Yard's Neighborhood Commissioner David Garber confirmed on Twitter last night that Whole Foods signed a lease for a store at 800 New Jersey Avenue SE. The Whole Foods will be the ground level of the still nameless project which will include eight stories of luxury apartments above it. The entire project is slated for completion no earlier than 2017. Although the official statement from Whole Foods won't occur until next month, a signed lease is particularly exciting news since their plan to come to Navy Yard two years fell through. There remains rampant Whole Foods speculation throughout the entire region as projects in Pentagon City, H Street NE and College Park have been courting the high end grocer. In which of those three spots do you think a Whole Foods will pop up first? We have a poll (and the tweet with the grand reveal from Garber) after the jump.
