Wackiest Penthouse

That penthouse with a green velvet living room we feature a few weeks ago has quite a backstory. It is being sold by George Washington University since a wealthy heiress left it to the University upon her death in 2009. Estelle Gelman was her name and her husband was involved in constructing the whole building, The Towers, in 1960 and this unit makes an appearance in the book Best Addresses: A Century of Washington's Distinguished Apartment Houses since it was one of the largest penthouses at the time.
