Fundrise Eyes Next Project In Shaw; New Firehouse For The Mall

SHAW—Fundrise—the company that uses crowdsourced funding and community input for their real estate projects—has a new potential site for development. But this time they're having a 'test the waters' phase to make sure there is sufficient interest from the community (but according to their blog more than enough people have expressed an interest after two hours of the post going live). Also, instead of offering iinvestment chits worth $100, this time they're looking for people to buy in at $1,000. [OfficialSite via UrbanTurf]

NATIONAL MALL—A mixed-use building planned for E Street Southeast might begin construction as early as April and when finished will bring a new fire station to the Mall. There will also be two office buildings and, on top of the fire station, a hotel. Let's hope they have soundproof glass. [WBJ]
