Georgetown's Olive Street was once home to Julia Child and, more importantly, was where her oven Big Garland was located. She bought the stove from Sherman Kent (who had something to do with the CIA) and began teaching French cooking classes out of her home just like she had done in France. It was here, in Georgetown, that she perfected many of the recipes for her Mastering The Art of French Cooking oeuvre. [WaPo]
