Sure there's a shortage in housing inventory right now, but urban planners predict it is going to get even worse a decade or two from now. For example, "Montgomery County estimates that by 2030, it will be difficult for anyone with $120,000 in annual household income to afford a home within its borders." Fairfax and Loudon are predicting similar squeezes. All of these places are still wrestling with how many of the new housing units should be set aside as 'affordable'. [WBJ]
