Welcome to Racked DC where we dig deep into the retail world and let you know about the latest happenings in fashion and shopping. Know of something interesting coming to town? Send the news into our tipline.

GEORGETOWNJohn Fluevog opened its doors to eager customers on Wednesday at 1265 Wisconsin Ave. Fun, whimsy, and retro is how Fluevog rolls with the new store having a 70's-inspired lounge and plenty of Pop Art. Soak up the nostalgia and grab a pair of shoes that have a history all their own. [Official Site]

COLUMBIA HEIGHTS—And while on the subject of shoes, DSW's looking for "shoe lovers" for its soon-to-be-opened store in CoHi's DCUSA. Still no official news on the store's launch, but last we heard, it'll be some time in October. [CurbedTipLine]

GEORGETOWN & BETHESDADrybar is happening. And it's happening soon. With the scheduled October 19 openings of both locations, the appointment books for a blowout or any other services for your hair needs will be ready to roll on September 19. To get your appointment locked down call 202-609-8644 (Georgetown) or 240-483-4277 (Bethesda). Or just use the awesome phone app.

GEORGETOWN—Affordable retail and Georgetown aren't usually in the same sentence, but that may soon change. Vornado's redevelopment of Georgetown Park Mall means changes are coming to the M St shopping corridor, and the latest newbies are the "budget clothing store TJ Maxx" and its sister store HomeGoods, which "sells budget home wares, like sofas and rugs" will be setting up in the mall. H STREET—The boom in the Atlas District continues unabated as another retail establishment opens its doors. Diva's World Consignment Boutiques has opened at 1244 H Street. So you can find your going-out outfit and hit the bars and clubs just down the block. [Frozen Tropics]

PENTAGON CITY—Can you strut your stuff on the runway? Or at least think you can? This Sunday from 2-5pm, DC50 is looking for male and female models for the Fashion, Beauty & Lifestyle Expo on October 20. The Expo will be hosted by the queen of walking the runway, J Alexander/Miss J from "America's Next Top Model". [Patch]

ALEXANDRIAGiselle Carillo has been named the winner of Goodwill of Greater Washington's "Be a Goodwill Fashion Designer". Carillo will be showcasing her designs at the Fashion of Goodwill Runway and Gala on Sept 27. The event will be at the Italian Embassy and is being billed as "The Passion of Milan". And we always like passion. [Alexandria News]
