Nellie's Sports Bar And The Residential Boom In Shaw

New, 1 comment

Welcome to Bar Crawl Living where we find some worthy domiciles within stumbling distance of a neighborhood hotspot. If there's a place you want us to scope out, leave a comment or send word to our tipline.

Today's Bar Crawl hot spot, Nellie's Sports Bar, is at U and 9th Streets and has seen many changes happen in the neighborhood in the last few years. And today, while waiting to get inside the bar and grab a drink and some eye candy, there are plenty of the cranes surrounding Nellie's heralding a rapidly changing nabe. Further east than most other bars like it, Nellie's was ahead of the curve when it set up shop in the the prime location between the U Street and Shaw Metros. With many large condo and apartment projects in the pipeline, this nabe nexus will be continue to change even as Nellie's stays the same.

Asking Price: $389,650

What It's All About: Keeping it sharp. At least this 2 bedroom, 1 bath condo is doing just that. Located in a "hip part of town" on a "tree-lined street", the condo has plenty of new, trendy finishes to appeal to the discerning buyer. Yes, the listing says 3,464 sq.ft. there aren't a lot of pics or info to give you an idea how all that space is being used. But that aside, the condo has a low HOA of $155/month and features "crisp" kitchen and baths in a European style. And if you have wheels that need taking care of, there's parking for an extra $25,000.

2. 929 Florida Ave

What It's All About: You want an opportunity to score a "million dollar view" while only paying a little more than half that? This may be your chance. The large 1 bedroom, 2 bath condo in the Floridian development has a "private balcony" and a "dream bathroom". There's also a "fabulous roof terrace" if the balcony isn't enough.

3. 1902 Vermont Ave
Asking Price: $875,900
Square Feet: 2,065
What It's All About: This development is close to everything. And this 3 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom townhouse offers everything too. And we mean everything. To make this simple, let us cite the listing: "Granite, Marble, custom 51" cabinets, professional grade Bosch appliances, Sub-Zero refrigerator, Hardwood Floors and extensive trim and moldings throughout and much more". No renderings of the interior. But the description alone has us drooling.

4. 619 Florida Ave
Asking Price: $1,179,000
Square Feet: 4,200
What It's All About: On the market for nearly a year and so many questions left unanswered. If you're in the market for a 4-story LeDroit Park townhouse, then step on up. With more than 4,000 sq.ft. of beautiful living space, 5 bedrooms, and 4 baths, the 1900 Federal townhouse is a buyer's wet dream. There's not only a townhouse for sale, but a renovated carriage house in the back and a basement that could be a source of rental income. Original details, gracefully-arched doorways, and fantastic woodwork is displayed throughout the home.
