Located in the nexus of Dupont down the street from hot eatery Komi is JR's Bar. Gay-owned and operated for more than 25 years, this bar has been around before Dupont was...well, Dupont. When most people think of gay bars in Dupont Circle, they think flashy, trendy, and full of thumping electro music. Granted, there are plenty of those, but JR's is a nabe staple that reflects the nabe itself: classic, welcoming, and friendly. And around this bar are plenty of properties no matter what your price range, your tastes, or your space needs. We listed a few that range from $289K to $899K after the break.
1. 1718 Corcoran St
Asking Price: $289,000
Square Feet: 482
What It's All About: Yes, a 1 bedroom, 1 bath condo in Dupont Circle for under $300,000. Located in a Victorian building from 1885, the condo has exposed brick walls, tiled floors, and a renovated bathroom. Unfortunately, the windows are a bit small preventing you from catching all the action happening in the nabe. And while the price is stellar, the downside is the HOA is $452/monthly. But the HOA does include utilities.
2. 1615 Q St
Asking Price: $365,000
Square Feet: 552
What It's All About: It's a building that's rather famous or infamous depending on where you stand on the city's height regulations. The Cairo was built in 1894 as DC's first residential skyscraper, and its ascension led to a flurry of regs to temper the development of other high rises. But history aside, there's a 1 bedroom corner unit that's been on the market for the better part of 5 months. The unit has a fireplace with exposed brick, an upgraded kitchen, hardwood floors, and plenty of stories to boot.
3. 1625 Q St
Asking Price: $524,900
Square Feet: 977
What It's All About: Count your pennies for this listing's wishing well in the "charming courtyard". Not only does this condo have 2 bedrooms, but each is a master suite, and one of the suites has a "double vanity and walk-in closet". Reduced by $25,000, the unit is in a boutique building built in the 1970's and has been on the market all summer. Time to make a wish.
4. 1507 Church St
Asking Price: $899,000
Square Feet: 2,068
What It's All About: And here's a Church Street townhouse with all the class you'd expect to find. This unit has just hit the market and has 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, vaulted ceilings, "brushed nickle fireplace", and a "tranquil garden". Plus, there's garage parking on site so you never have to worry about parallel parking in the nabe. And for the buy who wants a bit of income on the side, there's a "legal rental" with its own kitchen and bath that could command a suggested $1,400 per month. That would definitely help out with the mortgage.
