Ridiculous Stipulation Alert

This weekend's Post article is about the creative ways buyers try to stand out from the other people bidding on the same property. Escalation clauses and rent-backs are just so predictable, so now some people have taken to trying to find the sellers on Facebook or LinkedIn to see if they have common interests or friends. But the best solution one couple came up with was to offer to take the sellers' dog. They had to make sure he got along with their dog, of course, "so they made a playdate for Leo and Buddy. The dogs got along so well that they brought Leo back for another playdate during the home inspection." They even tried to put a clause in the offer that they would take the dog, but the lender wouldn't allow it. They still made their offer for the dog verbally and, naturally, they got the house. [WaPo]
