Ghosts Of DC found this story from 1967 that details George Romney's visit to the White House. He was running for President at the time and while attending a function in the White House library he knocked over a glass chimney on an 18th century lamp (part of a restoration project by Jackie Kennedy). Ghosts Of DC cites the Post article that covered the story: "He glanced only fleetingly at the debris under his feet and proceeded elsewhere with a preoccupied look. Someone else picked up the pieces."
