URBAN ESSENTIALS EXPANDS WITH MOVE TO BIGGER DIGS

U Street Home Furnishings Retailer Will Relocate to Larger Showroom

on 14 Street in September

Washington, DC – DC’s first contemporary home furnishings store along the U Street corridor is relocating to a much larger showroom on 14th Street, NW this September. After 12 years on U Street, Urban Essentials, the contemporary living home and design retailer that specializes in small-scale furnishings for urban lifestyles, announced today that they are moving from 1330 U Street NW, to a much larger space at 1401 14th Street, NW, formerly occupied by Reincarnations Furnishings. The new, 5,700-square-foot Urban Essentials is scheduled to open on September 5.

The larger space will provide Urban Essentials the opportunity to expand on current brands and the ability to show and sell entire furniture lines. Renovation plans include a one-month cosmetic facelift of hardwood floors on the main level, new lighting and paint. Several of the more than 40 popular brands that Urban Essentials features include: Tempurpedic, American Leather, Bontempi, Elite, BDI and Rowe Furniture.

“The 14th Street corridor is arguably D.C.’s premier furniture shopping ground zero and Urban Essentials will continue to complement this home furnishings district,” says David Schaefer, founder and owner of Urban Essentials. “As more and more condominiums and apartments are built in the corridor, the need for smart-sized, urban-scale furniture increases and our move will help us showcase even more items.”

Beginning Saturday, July 28, Urban Essentials is holding a moving sale with 20-60 percent off all floor sample items. For more information on Urban Essentials, please visit the website at: www.urban-essentials.com.
