Unlike other nabes, rentals that won't break the bank are available in Takoma Park. And while Takoma has more of a suburban feel with detached houses and quiet complexes, there are still amenities and access to public transport. And you're not really that far from the action, especially in NoMa and Brookland which are also on the Red Line. Whether you're looking on the DC-side of Eastern Ave or Maryland's territory, there seems to be something for all types of renters. So if you're in need of some personal space, lock one of these down.
· The Ten Least Expensive Properties In DC's Takoma Park [CDC]
3. 7035 Blair Rd
Monthly Rent: $1,509
Bedrooms: 0
The Perks: We know this is just above our $1500 threshold, but the Gable Apartment complex is too awesome to pass up. With studios starting at a bit above $1500, this complex is steps from the Metro and is LEED Green certified. (Would you expect anything less in Takoma?) Plus, the units have incredible interiors, so it's hard not to fall in love with this place.
2. Near Ft Slocum Park
Monthly Rent: $1,199
Bedrooms: 1
The Perks: On a tree-lined street across from Ft. Slocum Park and less than a mile from the Metro, here's an opportunity to live in a quintessential DC-esque space: the English basement. With renovations and plenty of perks, including a "relaxing hammock", the landlord is looking for a non-smoker with no pets.
1. 7600 Maple Ave (MD)
Monthly Rent: $890
Bedrooms: 1
The Perks: We're breaking all the rules and crossing Eastern Ave for this Hot Rental. Located a few blocks from the Metro, this complex doesn't have a lot of curb appeal, but the prices make it hard to care about that. The complex has affordable 1-3 bedroom apartments, and while the website says it is not accepting applications, in this market, things change very quickly. So keep this one in your back pocket.
