Clark's Smithsonian Troubles

Clark Construction, "the largest construction contractor in the District", is in hot water over its hiring strategy as it builds the Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture between 14th and 15th St NW at The Mall. The company has been criticized for "not doing to enough to hire local residents, specifically minority-owned businesses." Hundreds of protesters have been chanting and displaying signs at the construction site highlighting the supposedly unfair hiring practices. But the spokesperson for the Smithsonian Institute says that the museum and the construction companies "are committed to hiring minority workers and minority-owned businesses." [WaPo]
