Civil Disobedience Planned For Tuesday Over, What Else, The Eisenhower Memorial

There's a wee bit of controversy over the Frank Gehry design proposed for the Eisenhower Memorial and the National Civic Art Society is fighting back with ink and paper. Next Tuesday their exhibit of other designs for the memorial will go display and they're starting things off with an opening reception. You must RSVP in order to attend, but here's the deets:

Last summer, the National Civic Art Society (NCAS) and the Institute for Classical Architecture & Art (ICA&A) Mid-Atlantic Chapter invited architects, artists and designers to engage in an open competition to design a counter-proposal to Frank Gehry's Eisenhower Memorial. Come view these alternative designs at a kickoff reception at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 17, at Hillsdale College's Allan P. Kirby, Jr. Center for Constitutional Studies and Citizenship on Capitol Hill. The designs will remain on display at the Kirby Center through September 2012.· Eisenhower Counter-Proposal Competition Exhibition Unveiling [NCAS]
