As of this past Monday the Navy Yard industrial building known as Foundry Lofts has leased out all one hundred and seventy units in their building. This is the former building used to manufacture all sorts of equipment for WWII but sat empty for a long time before being turned into a hip multi-family building. They started pre-leasing last fall so that means it took less than a year to find tenants for each and every one and two bedroom (some of which are high-end penthouses, don't forget). Since rents started in the $2,000s many were wondering if enough people would be willing to pay that high a price outside of the center of the city. Is it because it is one of the few pet-friendly apartment buildings in Near Southeast or because the Nationals are doing so well?
