There's a ten-foot long cigarette missing from a Silver Spring house and the owners would really like it back. It used to be a telephone pole but this art-prone couple bought it, painted it, had it secured to metal brackets, and displayed it in their front yard alongside some other objets such as a silhouette of a man and a parking meter. On a recent morning the owner walked out of her front door and knew it had been stolen as soon as she saw it was missing. “I personally want to say this was planned,” she said. “You have to make sure you have enough guys. You have to make sure you have a pickup truck.” Maybe the thieves will return it along with a set of photos of where the cigarette had been just like those crazy flamingo-stealers used to do.
