A Beach Bar Hits DC Tonight; Bandolero Is Finally Open

MT VERNON SQUARE—Now that the sand has all been imported, the New York Avenue Beach Bar is ready to turn DC into an outpost of Ocean City with their grand opening party tonight. And what will there be to eat at the beach? Oh, just glorious sandwiches from the Sundevich food truck.

GEORGETOWN—Mike Isabella opened his Mexican small plates restaurant Bandolero in Georgetown last night. Eater has a look inside at the Day of the Dead theme, plus some menu details.

DUPONT CIRCLE—The saddest news of the week by far was word of Casa Nonna's shutter on Connecticut Avenue. Eater has a statement from the hospitality group behind the restaurant, who stressed the shutter has nothing to do with chef Amy Brandwein's exceptional cooking.

OLD TOWN ALEXANDRIA—As the one year anniversary for Virtue Feed & Grain approaches, Eater chatted with owner Meshelle Armstrong about the challenges of opening a restaurant in an historic district, legal disputes with neighbors and why this restaurant is meant to be different from Restaurant Eve.

FOOD TRUCKS—The Chick-fil-A food truck is apparently already out on the streets for a soft opening, with a grand opening scheduled for June 4.

ROSSLYN—Michael Landrum is shuttering Ray's Hell Burger Too yet again, to make way yet again for a steak and cheese restaurant. This time it will be named Nice 'n' Greasy, Steak 'n' Cheesy.

UNION MARKET—The Union Market development announced some of its future tenants this week, including cocktail specialist Gina Chersevani, Dolcezza, Peregrine Espresso and two food trucks opening their first brick-and-mortars.

AIRPORT DINING GUIDES—To kick off the summer travel season, Eater re-ran their airport dining guides, including National Airport, Dulles and BWI.

FALLS CHURCH—News broke this week that former BLT Steak chef Victor Albisu is opening a taqueria out in Falls Church named Taco Bamba.

ADAMS MORGAN—Jumbo slice got a new competitor on 18th Street this week with the opening of Sakuramen, which offers a short ramen menu and promises to offer some late-night options as well.

ROCKVILLE—Cocktail bar Quench celebrated its grand opening in Rockville this week with a whole lot of cocktails.
