14th St Boom

One of DC's more fashionable streets has been profiled (again) by the New York Times. Highlighting the city's tight rental market, the article dishes about the many new 14th Street NW properties in the pipeline. And it includes some dirt on the street's pre-Whole Foods history. If you're looking for a place with a hip address, just wait it out because "when the dust clears, the strip will have more than 1,200 additional housing units and more than 85,000 square feet of additional retail space." Unfortunately, most will be with the luxe label and (probably) the accompanying luxe price tag. [NYT]
