Obama's St. Patrick's Pint; Rasika West End Opens Soon; More!

WEST END—Restaurateur Ashok Bajaj opens Rasika West End next week and Eater got a peek inside the space before its debut. Though it will share much of its menu with what will now be dubbed Rasika Penn Quarter, this new location is going to be plenty different by the looks of things.

CLEVELAND PARK—Ripple's new gourmet market Sugar Magnolia opened this week and Eater took a look inside this one, too.
ATLAS DISTRICT—It's been a year since Toki Underground opened its doors on H Street NE, and chef/owner Erik Bruner-Yang reminisces about all the things he's learned his first year in business and what's ahead in this month's One Year In.

FOOD FESTS—Sweetgreen announced the food details of their upcoming Sweetlife Festival and it's pretty major: Beyond the previously announced Shake Shack and José Andrés' food truck Pepe, there's also going to be Toki Underground, Momofuku Milk Bar and more.

AU PARK—Chef Roberto Donna returns to the DC scene soon at the American University area restaurant La Forchetta and it's going to be a far cry from the high-end days of Galileo at this pizza and pasta restaurant. Eater took a look around and it involves a lot of orange.

AWARDS SEASON—The James Beard Foundation named the nominees for their annual awards ceremony, the largest in the restaurant industry, and several DC chefs made the cut, along with Fiola for best new restaurant.

CAPITOL HILL—Last weekend, President Barack Obama celebrated St. Patrick's Day at The Dubliner near Union Station. Owner Gavin Coleman gave Eater the lowdown on the day he shared a pint of Guinness with the President.
