The Giant store on Wisconsin Avenue in Cleveland Park is closing on April 12 to make way for a new grocery store that will be nearly 3 times its current size. The new Cathedral Commons Giant is scheduled to open in 2014 and will be part of a $125 million mixed-use development with new apartments and restaurants. And for those that still need their Giant grocery fix, there will be a periodic free shuttle to the Van Ness Giant. [WaPo; previously]
