For Least Expensive this week we're leaving our DC-centric ways and hopping across the river to explore the Orange Line neighborhoods of Ballston and Virginia Square. Located a few Metro stops from the city and having convenient access to suburban amenities, this area is brimming with young professionals transitioning from college into something resembling adulthood. And though the neighbors to the the north, Clarendon and Courthouse, get all the press, Ballston and Virginia Square have all the deals when it comes to affordable condos.


10. 1024 N. Utah St
Asking Price: $348,000

The Lowdown: Our first listing is ideal for someone who can't start the day without a shot of Starbucks. Reduced from $358,500, this 1 bedroom, 1 bath condo in the Westview at Ballston is across the street from Starbucks, a few blocks from the Ballston Metro, and has upgrades, such as ceramic tile, granite counters, "designer lighting", and hardwood floors. Parking is included in the list price, and the monthly HOA is $318.

Perfect for a buyer looking to take his or her first step into becoming a homeowner.
