In a town that loves nothing more than hosting endless committee meetings, it's surprising to discover DC's Real Property Tax Appeals Commission sits empty. Waiting for Mayor Vincent Gray to nominate members, which he will supposedly do by mid-March, the interim appeals board has its hands full with more than 4,500 appeals that need to be adjudicated. The commission can impact the city's coffers via property tax revenue and is looking for "14 experienced appraisers, lawyers, CPAs and real estate professionals" to fill the vacancies. And we know there are plenty of lawyers, CPAs, etc. who would love to wield a bit more power. [WBJ] -- George Perkins
