Designer Darryl Carter is going to open up a brick and mortar store in Shaw just as soon as he tames the bricks and mortar that are already there. He bought the very old building at 1320 Ninth St. NW over a year ago and has been trying to bring it up to modern standards ever since while also keeping as many of the original materials as possible. In typical Carter style he's outfitting it with salvaged material (e.g. arched glass doors from Dumbarton House) as well as modern amenities (an espresso bar).
