THE YARDS—News came out today that the anchor for the Twelve12 project in The Yards will be none other than VIDA Fitness. You were expected a grocery store, weren't you? Vida Fitness To Locate at The Yards Fitness Club, Salon, Spa & Pool Club to be an Anchor of Twelve12 Project

Washington DC----October 23, 2012 -------Forest City Washington announced today that Vida Fitness, along with its Bang Salon and Aura Spa affiliated concepts, will open a 28,000 SF facility as a component of the Twelve12 project at The Yards, Washington DC's premier mixed-use waterfront development located near Nationals Park in the Capitol Riverfront. The Yards is a major Forest City urban mixed-use development/management project.

Currently under construction, Twelve12 is a new, mixed-use project located at 4th and Tingey Streets SE. Upon completion in mid-2014 Twelve12 will include, in addition to Vida, 218 apartments, a 50,000 SF Harris Teeter grocery store, 10,000 SF of additional space for smaller-use retailers and garage parking.
"Vida will be a wonderful addition to the growing waterfront neighborhood at The Yards," said Deborah Ratner Salzberg, president of Forest City Washington. "With its unmatched fitness facilities, plus the salon and spa, Vida truly nourishes the body, mind and spirit."

Vida's newest location at The Yards will include the club's full suite of services and facilities. A notable feature will be Vida's Penthouse Pool Club and Lounge—a membership-only urban resort featuring a rooftop pool deck with city and riverfront views and a variety of poolside lounging options and amenities, in addition to Vida's impressive, multi-level array of fitness and cardio equipment, personal training services, yoga, Pilates, a variety of specialized fitness classes and other amenities.
Based in Washington, Vida Fitness (www.vidafitness.com) is highly regarded as being among the leading fitness clubs in not only the DC region, but the nation for the exceptional quality of its facilities and member-pampering services. Vida clubs also feature tanning, a laundry service, web scheduling and the Fuel Bar which offers a menu of healthful refreshments.
Spa services at Aura include a number of therapeutic massage techniques including sports massage, pre-natal massage, Thai and hot stone massage, as well as customized aromatherapy, facial treatments, body wraps and scrubs, waxing and tinting. Bang Salon offers a complete head-to-toe selection of salon services.
At full build-out, The Yards (www.dcyards.com) will feature approximately 2,800 residential units, 1.8 million SF of office space and roughly 400,000 SF of retail/restaurants/entertainment/services space.
Twelve12 is designed by Shalom Baranes Associates; interior design is by Core Architects of Toronto. Kenneth Park Associates of New York is providing retail design services. Resident amenities will include a private rooftop deck with carefully designed outdoor spaces including grills, a water feature and more. In addition, a residents' lounge adjacent to the outdoor amenities deck will feature contemporary dining and lounging areas, a well-appointed kitchen facility, a fireplace, private divisible event spaces and dramatic views. Availability of Twelve12's apartments is projected to be spring 2014.
A variety of dining options and neighborhood conveniences will be just steps away throughout The Yards for residents of Twelve12.

The popular, award-winning, waterfront Yards Park was completed in fall 2010 and is the site of numerous seasonally-programmed events, festivals, concerts and movies, having become the centerpiece of the growing Capitol Riverfront district. The initial residential building at The Yards, Foundry Lofts Apartments (www.foundryloftsdc.com), is an adaptive reuse of a former Navy Yard industrial building which opened in late 2011 and has been fully leased since this past May.
Other development components at The Yards currently either under construction or nearing completion include the Boilermaker Shops, another adaptive reuse of a former Navy Yard industrial building. Several places to eat and drink as well as a dry cleaner have already been announced and are expected to open at The Boilermaker Shops over the coming months.
Slated for completion in summer 2013 is The Lumber Shed, another adaptive reuse project at The Yards that will feature several ground floor restaurants with park and riverfront views and office space on its second level.
