The Billfold blog has a rundown on one woman's rental history that involved living in a Charlottesville, Va house they named Beowulf. This was better than it's previous name, Fuckingham Palace, since they needed something palatable for the English Department's listserv. The rodents were of unusually large size and the decor theme was "Dried Beer Spills and Whose Homework Is This." From there the story travels around the world and chronicles the range of rents the writer paid. Things sounded worst—even worse than Beowulf—during her Peace Corps stint in Kyrgyzstan.
