Via the Brookland listserve, PoP lets us know that this house on Irving has had an application filed to the Historic Preservation Review Board so that it can become a protected building. The entry states that this is the only round house in DC and it was built in 1901 by John C. Louthan, but they haven't found an explanation for why the architect (Edward Woltz) chose such an unusual shape. Inside the first floor has three rooms and a spiral staircase leading to the upstairs. It has only had four owners in its lifetime.
