The US Green Building Council looked at data from the 2010 Census and found that DC has the most LEED-certified square feet per capita. This is in part because there's a heck of a lot of green building going on around here, but it is also partly a function of statistics (since there are so few residents in the District that has skewed the results slightly in its favor). But, since Virgina and Maryland take the fourth and sixth spots on the list, we here in the DMV can still confidently claim green street-cred.
