Keep Bethesda Classy

Complementing the nearby Bainbridge Bethesda development, JBG, Ross Development and Investment, and CIM Group have submitted plans for a 17-story unit at 4900 Fairmont Avenue in Bethesda. With more than 230 apartments, 6500 sq.ft. of retail space, and underground parking, this high-rise, mixed-use development would continue to encourage high-density development in the Woodmont Triangle. To keep it classy for Bethesda's residents, there will be a paseo lined with art that would connect pedestrians to the parking garage. The typical concerns--increased traffic, parking issues, etc.--were raised at last week's community meeting, but if the plan is approved, construction will start in early 2013. —George Perkins
