For 30 years, Tenleytown residents tolerated the backwards Safeway at 42nd and Davenport. After an initial redesign was rejected because of opposition to the above-ground parking garage, the grocer, Torti Gallas, and Clark Realty Capital went back to the design drawing board. The new plan includes a five-story building with below-ground parking, more than 180 apartments, and 14 town houses. Not surprisingly, this is too much for local residents who want the project scaled back. The groundbreaking is schedule for 2014, do you think the two sides will come to an agreement before then?
