Wowza. We knew the mortgage lenders had some pretty shady practices, but we didn't know it was this ridiculous. The Center for Public Integrity has an in-depth look at the level of subterfuge that went on with the Countrywide/Bank of America shenanigans. Here's one quote from the article: "...they found mock-ups that indicated to investigators that workers had, as a matter of routine, literally cut and pasted the address for one home onto an appraisal for a completely different piece of property."
