Michael Landrum's New Restaurant; Tour of Taylor Charles

This week's top dish from Eater DC, Curbed's restaurant, bar, and nightlife blog...

ROSSLYN—Restaurateur Michael Landrum — of Ray's the Steaks and Ray's Hell Burger fame — surprised everyone with a last-minute announcement of a brand new concept for Rosslyn. It was so last-minute that Landrum said he didn't even have a name or menu for it until just before the place opened. Eater took a look inside on opening night and has the scoop on what's in store.

ATLAS DISTRICT—Eater takes a tour of the pre-renovation space that will soon house Taylor Charles Steak & Ice, the new cheesesteak place from the Taylor Gourmet guys. Menu brainstorm sessions are already underway and the design will mimic Philly's iconic outdoor cheesesteak joints Pat's and Geno's with asphalt floors inlaid with Taylor-monogrammed manhole covers and painted with traffic lines.

FOOD TRUCKS—The Red Hook Lobster Pound celebrated its first anniversary selling lobster rolls on DC streets just last month. Eater chatted with owner Doug Povich about how the truck came to be, their immediate success and lessons he's learned running a mobile business.

FREDERICK—Former Top Chef contestants and brothers Bryan and Michael Voltaggio are throwing their cookbook launch party near Bryan's restaurant Volt. The party will be on October 18 at Harry Grove stadium. Eater's got the details and a preview video.
