As we kick off Hottest Week across all our Curbed sites, we thought we would start with one of the Hot Topics everyone is talking about. Today at 11am is the soft opening of the Martin Luther King Memorial. After a few years of your typical internal politics, family strife, and fundraising obstacles we will finally be able to see what all the discussions have been about. Tomorrow is the day the memorial opens officially, with the formal dedication taking place on August 28th (many celebrities are expected to attend). Fittingly, the new address of the memorial is 1964 Independence Avenue, in honor of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. [Official Site; Dish]
