Brookland's Monroe Street Is (Almost) Ready To Hear From You

The 901 Monroe Street project is getting ready to hear from the public. The Office of Zoning agreed to 'set down' the project for a public hearing so anyone out there who feels strongly about the changes coming to Monroe Street should get their thoughts together in the next few weeks (no date has been announced yet). They have already made a few changes based on preliminary suggestions from the Office of Planning, mostly to do with changing the height of different parts of the buildings. The before and after renderings are after the jump.

The proposed plans for 901 Monroe include 212 rental units, 124 parking spaces (plus 2 Zipcar spaces), 68 bike spaces, and ground floor retail. The website specifically states the retail will not be for 'big box stores'. They hope to begin construction next fall and deliver a year later.

Here are a few of the changes they have already made. Click on each one to expand the image.
