Green Apartment Building On Hold; Brodsky Arrested; Walmart

ARLINGTON—The apartment building planned for 2009 14th Street will spend another year in the planning stages. Called Tellus, it will have a LEED Gold certification and developers are hoping to begin construction in early 2012. [DCMud]

ADAMS MORGAN—Charles Brodsky was arrested on Saturday evening for impersonating a police officer. This is the guy who, until recently, chaired the District's alcohol review board but stepped down amid allegations of ethical misconduct. Short version: his dual role on the alcohol board and leader of several private businesses that request liquor licenses was worrying to a lot of people. [Examiner]

DISTRICT—The latest ripple in Walmart Watch was the news that Mayor Grey would require a Walmart in his neighborhood of Skyland or he wouldn't approve building permits for any of their proposed five stores. Turns out this comment was meant 'in jest' and so the IMBY fight can go back to being a NIMBY one.
