Capitol Hill Residents Organize To Stay In Ward Six

Capitol Hill residents showed off their community organizing skills yesterday in a rally in front of Eastern Senior High School. About two hundred people showed up to protest the proposed redistricting plan that would place their neighborhood in Ward 7 in order to even out the population counts across wards. This rally came after a month or two of neighborhood petitions, open forums, and plenty of homemade signs and won't stop until the lines are drawn in ink. Tomorrow the subcommittee on redistricting meets for their first vote on the proposal so organizers are still busy getting the word out to residents to make their voice heard. Of course, this being DC and all, some people are open to the idea of becoming part of Ward 7.
