D.C. Was Just Kidding About That Solar Panel Rebate

It turns out that installing solar panels might not have been such a good idea after all. The D.C. Department of Environment was originally going to foot part of the bill that qualifying residents paid to install those sleek, energy-saving panels. But, budget shortfalls being what they are these days, it turns out that isn't going to happen. At least not until some more money finds its way into the balance sheet. This means about fifty people will be losing out on at least a few thousand dollars, but most will say goodbye to much more than that. All together it adds up to about 700k that the city will keep to cover part of the budget shortfall. Photo by Mark Gail/WaPo
