Whole Foods Near Nationals Park. Worth The Tax Freebie?

Nothing says development like a Whole Foods coming to town and that is exactly what the developers at William C. Smith and Co. are proposing for the stretch of New Jersey Avenue that hasn't seen better years for quite a few years. The thinking goes that a Whole Foods will bring more restaurants and stores to the area and lead to more than just Nationals fans roaming the streets, similar to what happened to Logan circle when a Whole Foods came to P Street (minus the baseball groupies, of course). The only teensy-tiny catch is the same developers are pushing for an 8 million dollar tax abatement to bring the dream into reality. What say ye, Curbsters? Is a Whole Foods worth an eight million dollar sacrifice?
