Two Tree Lightings; Disney Scraps National Harbor Plans

THE ELLIPSE—This Thursday, Dec 1st, is the lighting of the National Christmas tree at 4:30pm. The event is free, but arrive early to grab a seat. If you can't make it down there, the festivities, featuring Carson Daly, Rodney Atkins, and Kermit the Frog (and more), will be streamed live. This is not to be confused with the lighting of the Capitol Christmas Tree, which takes place Dec 6th. And if that wasn't enough tree lighting for you, then here's a schedule of other events in the area. [NationalTree; About; About]

NATIONAL HARBOR—Disney has tabled its plans to build a resort hotel here, leaving fifteen acres of land currently unspoken for. [WaPo]
