Frank Gehry was here to update a federal planning group about his proposal for the Dwight D. Eisenhower Memorial. He originally ran into some resistance when he proposed using very large woven metal "tapestries" since they might block views of the Capitol, but he still thinks tapestries are a good idea because of their connection to the tradition of storytelling. This memorial, if/when it does get approved, will be Gehry's first work in Washington D.C. [WaPo]
